Case study for Grillmark - Dorobanti Media concept

4 minute readCase Study31 may 2024

Grillmark is a conceptual steakhouse our design team envisioned to show the power of transformation for a cohesive brand identity and user-friendly website. Want to know more? We created this brand from scratch. Read on for details of what we came up with.

1. The concept.

We like a good challenge, so why can't we create one ourselves? The name of the steakhouse, "Grillmark," smartly combines two powerful words together that creates a strong impact. The word "Grill" specifically points out the main technique of cooking used in steakhouses, which creates a no-nonsense expectation about the kind of dishes offered. Meanwhile, "Mark" further strengthens this association by alluding to the charred marks, a benchmark of excellence left on a perfectly cooked steak.

2. The brand identity.

We weren't handed a pre-existing logo or color palette. As outlined in the Grillmark case study, the basis of a strong brand identity is knowing the essence of the brand and how to translate that into visual and emotional components. This includes creating a color palette that mirrors the desired atmosphere: the warmth and refinement for Grillmark - and creating typography through the selection of fonts with a personality that mirrors the brand: the classic, history-rich serif font of Grillmark. The logo design is paramount, for it is through such visual metaphors, like the flame motif in Grillmark - that instantaneous brand recognition is achieved.

3. The website design.

Grillmark Website Landing Page

A successful web design should provide an excellent user experience. This means unambiguous navigation between the pages, an appealing call to action - like "Reserve Your Table" in Grillmark, and top-quality images showing what the brand offers, such as delicious steakhouse imagery for Grillmark. The website design should also be intuitive, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing; the color scheme and layout should adhere to the brand identity - that is, warm colors and a minimalist design for Grillmark. Besides, it should be functional; Grillmark's seamless reservation system makes for great UX and converts visitors into customers.

Conclusion
